It was an institutional visit that, in recent days, the mayor of Modica Maria Monisteri and the president of the municipal council Mariacristina Minardo had in the consular district of Vlora, in southern Albania. The delegation also included the restorer Gaetana Ascenzo, Enrico Drago for the Consortium for the Protection of Chocolate of Modica PGI and the Band of Antonio Modica’s “Mode” musical group, with the participation of Lee Curreri, accompanied by Francesco Pisana, tour manager of the band from Modica.
In Vlora the cultural experience of Modica and the Iblean traditions.
Gaetana Ascenzo, in fact, exhibited the history of the Grimaldis in Modica and illustrated some canvases that the same professional restored. A beautiful example of how history and art in the County city go hand in hand. During the visit to Vlora there was no lack of tasting the typical products of the Iblean territory, from chocolate to cheese, oil, wines, all IGP, DOP and DOC products made available by the Protection Consortium – Chocolate of Modica IGP, from Consortium for the Protection of Ragusano DOP Cheese and by the Consortium for the Protection of Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG and Vittoria DOC.
But also moments of conviviality and discussion enriched by the good music of the “Mode” who performed at the “Petro Marko” Theater. “The welcome from the Consul, Iva Palmeri and the Vice Consul, Antonio Rapisardi was warm for allowing this virtual journey between Modica and Vlora – stated the mayor Maria Monisteri and the president Mariacristina Minardo upon returning to the city – it is important support promotion activities of one’s territory with a view to conscious tourism development for a better knowledge of the places. Our hope is for a future collaboration between the two cities for a deepening of cultural and human exchanges that can unite the two territories.
