VIAREGGIO

Having arrived at the 95th edition of the Viareggio Rèpaci literary prize, the event which since 1929 has brought and rewarded debut and already established authors to the city, the special prizes were announced yesterday, in anticipation of those for poetry and non-fiction on 10 July and the great final on July 27th with the announcement of the winner for the narrative section and the awarding of the prizes.

The jury, composed of Paolo MIeli, Leonardo Colombati, Luca Alvino, Maria Pia Ammirati, Camilla Baresani, Giorgio Biferali, Maria Borio, Gabriella Buontempo, Diamante D’Alessio, Francesca Ferrandi, Costanza Geddes da Filicaia, Emma Giammattei, Luciano Luciani, Edoardo Nesi and Mirella Serri, awarded the “Viareggio-Versilia” International Award, the Journalism Award and the First Work Award. The first was awarded to Anita Likmeta, an entrepreneur born in Durazzo, Albania, during the communist regime of Enver Hoxha, and a naturalized Italian, who published her first novel “The Fables of Communism” in 2024. The second to Giovanna Reanda , journalist since 1997 and, from this year, new director of Radio Radicale.

Alice Valeria Oliveri, journalist and author who deals with television, cinema, music and new media, collaborating with magazines such as “Esquire”, “The Vision” and “Domani”, and with Mediaset Infinity as author of video formats, who published the his first novel “Sabato champagne“ published by Solferino, and this year, for Einaudi, “Mondovisione. Atlas of contemporary TV “, she won the First Work Award instead.

On July 10th, the winners for the poetry and non-fiction categories will also be announced, featuring Stefano Dal Bianco (“Paradiso”, Garzanri), Mariangela Gualtieri (“Bello Mondo”, Einaudi), Laura Pugno (“I nomes”, The ship of Theseus) and Pierluigi Battista (“My heroes“, The ship of Theseus), Francesco Gambino (“In the room with the law“, The ship of Theseus) and Vincenzo Trione (“Celestial Prologue“, Einaudi).

On Friday 26 July, however, in Piazza Mazzini, the authors of the finalist books, in dialogue with the jury, will present their works to the public, while on Saturday 27 the final evening will be held with the announcement of the winner for fiction, with the candidates Silvia Avallone (“Cuore nero“, Rizzoli), Federica De Paolis (“Da parte di madre“, Feltrinelli) and Marco Lodoli (“Tanto poco“, Einaudi), and the awards ceremony for the winners, for each section.
