The initiative, promoted by the Order of PPC Architects of the province of Lecce, falls within the scope of the activities aimed at members and the territory “See under Architecture”. Start at 4.45pm
“Architecture and the city_Designing minor heritage”: on this theme the meeting with Antonio Capestro, architect and professor of Architectural and Urban Composition at the University of Florence, scientific director of the UD-Laboratory of Urban Design and LMA-Laboratory of Models for architecture.
“What could be the challenges that the architectural-urban-landscape heritage poses in a contemporary key, through the Project, in its different and possible declinations?
And what are the important and necessary strategies and implementation tools to consciously address the process of ongoing transformations, through a project culture to be developed within a framework of shared operations?”: these, suggested by Capestro himself, are the questions underlying the research and study work in which he is engaged, always convinced that “Architecture and Cities contribute to creating a heritage of living memories, the promise of a future of identity and belonging”, and that “the convergence of these themes today more than ever it is based on the awareness that the protection and valorization of the Heritage as a cultural heritage can contribute to the well-being and quality of life in the city”.
The meeting will open with institutional greetings from the President of the Order of PP and C. Architects of the province of Lecce Tommaso Marcucci and Gabriella Guerrazzi, Azienda Guerrazzi Pietro&Figli, followed by an introduction to the topic curated by Daniela Rollo, member of the Group Culture of the Order, to then get to the heart of the topic with the intervention of the guest speaker and the subsequent multi-voiced discussion.
“The meeting scheduled for Thursday responds to a dual need – underlines the President of the PPC Architects Association Tommaso Marcucci -. On the one hand, sharing the important research work developed by Antonio Capestro and the related good practices, on the other, rediscovering the value, also starting from this careful and profound reflection on the architectural heritage in cities, of so-called minor places and that vice versa they can play an important role with great potential to be explored. Obviously, in this reflection on the nature of places and on the genius loci, the architectural project plays an essential role, nourishing itself on interpretative capacity for a rereading and a new life of urban spaces, often beautiful and unknown, forced to be anonymous places of passage or of connections characterized by marginal functions, and it is on this that it will be important to listen and share experiences gained also in our territory. Finally, and once again, with this appointment we return to underline the strong relationship that exists between our profession and the places and knowledge of artisan manufacturing, convinced as we are of the fruitful and necessary exchange between the knowledge of architectural and design projects and knowledge linked to the exact knowledge of materials, their transformations and their potential”.
