Yesterday afternoon, Monday 17 June, personnel of the Flying Squad of the Trento Police Headquarters proceeded with the arrest of a 42 year old Albanian citizen, resident in another Province.
Specifically, the operators had prepared a checkpoint near the town of Mattarello.
When a car arrived from the south, the crew carried out the usual “ALT POLICE” signaling procedure with the manual signaling device supplied.

Only the driver was present on board the vehicle, although at first sight he was not known to the operators; this man, showing himself to be absolutely careless when he was arrested, continued the march towards the nearby SS 12, Trento West ring road.
The operators, immediately following in a vehicle with school colours, they carried out further warnings with the manual signaling device supplied and with the light devices, in order to make the driver pull over. Despite repeated reports made, the driver showed no intention of stopping.
Only after a further stretch, also following the approach of the service car to the car in transit, the driver pulled over in one of the lay-bys near the Trento Sud exit.
The crew thus proceeded todriver identification, subject burdened by previous reports for crimes against property, for violations of the legislation on foreigners and false documents, as well as by a report for carrying weapons and objects capable of offending.
From the first moments the Albanian citizen highlighted a excessive emotional state, so much so as to make the staff suspicious that he might be hiding weapons or break-in tools inside the car. For this circumstance, the crew proceeded with athorough search.
During the inspection of the car the operators have identified an irregular assembly of the plastic components and therefore proceeded with an even more meticulous check; this made it possible to discover a false bottom created near the central dashboard of the car, inside which it was found a block of cocaine weighing 542 grams, together with 11 bundles of banknotes who, subjected to counting via electronic equipment, returned the total sum of €106,490.00.
Due to the fact that the subject was transporting a considerable quantity of cocaine and money believed to be proceeds from the previous sale of the narcoticas well as taking into account the method of concealing everything in an absolutely hidden compartment, we proceeded to his arrest in flagrante delicto for possession for the purpose of trafficking of narcotic substances.
At the end of the ritual formalities, upon order of the judicial authority, the subject was taken to prison awaiting the validation hearing.
