Tadej Pogacar put on a great show in the fourth stage of the Tour de France 2024, attacking with force when there was one kilometer to go summit of the Galibierthe first real altimetric difficulty of this edition of the Grande Boucle after the departure from Italy. The Slovenian champion placed the razor and only Jonas Vingegaard managed to respondbut in the last 500 meters uphill the further change of pace of the Balkan rider weakened the resistance of the Dane.

Tadej Pogacar crossed the top of the Galibier with a ten-second advantage over the winner of the last two editions of the most prestigious race in the world and reached the finish line in Valloire with a 35-second margin over the small group of his rivals most likely to win the final. The UAE Emirates captain, who also earned an 18-second bonus, he took back the yellow jersey and is leading the general classification with an already very interesting advantage.

Tadej Pogacar won with 45” for Evenepoel, 50” for Vingegaard, 1’10” for Ayuso, 1’14” for Roglic, 1’16” for Rodriguez. Richard Carapaz lost more than four minutes and saw the yellow jersey taken away from him, also delayed by Enric Mas, Adam Yates, Simon Yates and our Giulio Ciccone. Below is the 2024 Tour de France general classification after the fourth stage. Tomorrow (Wednesday 3 July) is the fifth stage: a relatively easy 177.4 km from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to Saint Vulbas.
