FLORENCE – The classic event returns in style: the Cetilar Run | Nocturne of San Giovannithe second oldest race in Italy, one of the most awaited running events in Italy and especially for Florence with the organization by Firenze Marathon in collaboration with Atletica Firenze Marathon and the patronage of the Municipality of Florence, Coni and FIDAL .
History
Once again, as from first edition of 1938 today there will be all the magic and splendor of Florence, on an early summer night, with one of the most historic and iconic races that passes through the most evocative monuments of the city. Sport and culture, competition, monuments and art: ‘The nocturne of San Giovanni’ celebrates the Patron Saint of Florence in a unique atmosphere with departure and arrival right in Piazza S. Giovanni, in front of the magnificent Duomo. A timeless and unmissable event for running lovers.
The event presented in the press room of the Ridolfi Stadium in Florence with the presence of the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Florence Cosimo Guccionethe Florence Marathon staff from the president Giancarlo Romitithe general director Diego Petrinithe technical director Fulvio Massini and the top management of Cetilar’s marketing sector.
Thanks are in order Society of St. John the Baptist, represented by President Claudio Bini, present at the press conference, for having included the event in the calendar of official events celebrating the city’s patron saint. The Society of Saint John the Baptist has been organizing the spectacular fireworks since 1796, which every year characterize the celebrations of the patron saint.
The celebrations for the Patron Saint began on Sunday 16 June with the Coronation of Marzocco and the Corona del Marzocco Award. There San Giovanni Society will award personalized trophies to the first man and woman classified at the Notturna di San Giovanni on 22 June. On June 24th Procession of Homage will open the day dedicated to St. John Baptist which will end with it Fochi show. June 27th will be there Florence Rowing Society to host the Ponte Vecchio San Giovanni Trophy Challenge with the finals after dark.

We are also renewing the dedicated trophy for the first man and the first woman while Monday 24 June will be the day of the feast of St. John the Baptist and will celebrate the Procession of Homage. Historically, all the lands subjected to Florence brought gifts of wax to San Giovanni which were used to fuel the activities in the Baptistery. Monday 24th there will beOffering of the Ceri and the delivery of the Crosses of San Giovanni to the Mayor and the new Archbishop, who will take office on the day of the Patron Saint. In the evening there will be the traditional Fochi, the fireworks display from Piazzale Michelangelo”.
Elena PanchettiDesigner and Social Manager of Florence Marathon signed the official technical shirt with graphics that trace the most important monuments that runners will find along the route.
Distances
It runs on Saturday 22 June with start at 9pm on the distance of 9.9kman optimal distance also for those who want to carry out tests in view of other future commitments, such as that of the Florence Marathon already scheduled with its 40th edition for Sunday 24 November 2024. The distance is also the same for those who decide to run the not competitive or i 4 km for those who want to take it more “calmly” and enjoy the climate, the evening and the large audience that usually follows the event.

They will be about 300 volunteers of Florence Marathon to supervise the route and assist the runners before, during and after the race.
The partnership with the Tuscan company continues this year as it has for several years Pharmanutra and the brand CetilarTitle Sponsor of the event, which will be present at the start with a massage point.
JOMA will also be the technical sponsor of the event this year, as it was for the Guarda Firenze and the Firenze Marathon.

Registration and collection of race bibs
The registrations, both for the competitive and for the recreational motor races, will close, both at the physical registration points (list on the Florence Marathon website) and in the online system, on Thursday 20 June; the online system will accept registrations by 11.59pm.
Registrations to motor play onlyboth 9.9 and 4 km, can also be done on the day of the event directly in the square, from around 7.00 pm, unless the bib number runs out.
The bib can be collected on the day of the race starting from 6.30 pm in Piazza San Giovanni, Baptistery side. There delivery of the shirts it will take place directly in the square after the race at a special stand. It will be scheduled bag storage in a dedicated stand located behind Giotto’s Bell Tower.
