Summer in the City 2024: a program of over one hundred events and reviews of various kinds to enliven the city between June and September, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to choose between music initiatives, entertainment, cultural and sporting activities, exhibitions, entertainment, with events that watch to all age groups. Three months to experience the city and its territory in the open air, with an eye on two highly anticipated events: from Saturday 6 July the extraordinary openings of the atrium and the former Tau church in Corso Fedi with the initiative Marino and Pistoia together again and the program of “The places of the heart” organized on the occasion of twentieth anniversary of the death of Tiziano Terzani. For this last programme, it is a set of cultural initiatives carried out with the involvement of local associations, in particular of Orsigna, where the writer passed away, with the aim of promoting knowledge of his work and the places to which he was very close.

The calendar of initiatives it was drawn up by the municipal administration in collaboration with cultural, sporting and recreational associations, private entities, foundations and trade associations, to promote the many activities planned and encourage participation. It can be consulted online day by day on the institutional website of the Municipality of Pistoia (www.comune.pistoia.it) and on the one dedicated to culture (www.cultura.comune.pistoia.it).

Thanks to the collaboration between the municipal administration and numerous associations and partners, over one hundred events are proposed, mostly outdoors, which will enrich city life in the coming months. We started in June, with the cycle Holidays with grandparents, tales of yesterday and today (workshops and meetings for children aged 6 to 11) in the San Giorgio Library every Wednesday and Friday morning, organized by the Friends of San Giorgio; the programming of Cinema under the stars curated by Mabuse Cinema, in the Porta al Borgo Arena from 21 June; The Europeans in Montu, the screening of the 2024 European Championship matches in the Monteoliveto Park by the Friends of Montuliveto Association; the sports tournaments of Palio dei Rioniwho will compete on various playing fields in 5 disciplines (basketball, football, hockey, padel and volleyball).
