Npic Rieti became Italian Uisp wheelchair basketball champion. The final phase of the 2023/2024 championship took place again this year at the EuroCamp in Cesenatico and saw the participation of 84 male and female athletes belonging to 8 of the 12 teams that took part in the regular season. The wheelchair basketball finals, played in conjunction with the standing ones in Rimini, attracted around 250 people to Cesenatico, including players, managers, coaches, referees, family members and supporters. The event was organized with the logistical support of EuroCamp and in partnership with Guidosimplex and BIC Italia. After overcoming the Delfini di Montecchio Maggiore (39-19) and the Polisportiva Salgareda (44-61), the Npic defeated the boys of HB Uicep Torino 71-50 in the final. In Cesenatico the Rieti team showed up with Roberto Scagnoli, Pietro De Santis, Simone Cimarelli, Angelo Bruno, Thomas Bagliani, Aritz Ordoyo, Anselmo Fabbri, Jojit Manuyag and Dino Valzano.

For the record, Salgareda and Lazio ranked third and fourth respectively in the Gold group. In the Silver one, first place went to Basket Pegli, followed by Asdre Reggio Emilia, Delfini Montecchio Maggiore and Las Pezia Pirates of La Spezia. Uisp awarded the athletes Leonardo Pascon (best red), Salvatore Donatore (best orange), Jojit Manuyag (best yellow), Federico Balsamo (best green), Noemi De Velis (best woman), Giovanni John Amasio (best able-bodied) and the referee Franco Stanghellini for 40 years of militancy in the championships of the Italian Union of Sport for All. Present at the awards ceremony were, in addition to Andrea Dreini (Head of Uisp Wheelchair Basketball), Mirco Casalgrandi (Head of Uisp Wheelchair Basketball) and Matteo Marrello (secretary of Uisp Wheelchair Basketball), the EuroCamp host Stefano Pillastrini, Caterina Ubertini (president of Uisp Rieti ) and Francesco Fabbri, among the organizers of the “Basket d’a…mare” event.
