“The municipal administration is lame“, comments the municipal councilor of the Mixed Group tersely Cosimo Oteri, after the vote in the Chamber on the PUMS, the Urban Plan for Sustainable Mobility, passed thanks to the votes of the PD and Ora Sicilia. “This is the political data that emerges after the vote, but it doesn’t have just one crutch called PD but two, because Ora Sicilia colleagues also sided in favor of a resolution that will seize the city center. All Italian cities can use sustainable mobility tools, but this PUMS is leaking from all sides – explains Oteri – because it focuses the strategy on the closure of roads and the creation of promiscuous cycle paths everywhere, when it would have been appropriate find a balance that respected the economic and social fabric of the city. We all want the ecological transition, but it must not become repellent for citizens”, Oteri remarks.
“If companies and jobs are lost, we will also lose the citizen and, therefore, also the ecological transition itself. I believe that the green transition process must take place, but in a balanced and reasonable way. Environmental sustainability -concludes Oteri– but together with economic and social sustainability”.
