PESARO Yes to the clean-up with prescriptions regarding the case of pollution in the municipal area of via Trometta, at the corner of via Sonnino where the former Amanup depot, the old public transport company, once stood. This is what was established by the Services Conference, acknowledging the approval, with prescriptions, of the area characterization plan drawn up by the company Wisp Italia on behalf of the Municipality of Pesaro and to be carried forward together with Arpam.

The Municipality has in fact allocated 50 thousand euros as the first intervention aimed at ascertaining the pollution of the area which for a long time hosted the bus depot of the then disused municipal transport company Amanup. The area concerned, based on the forecasts of the Prg, is intended for residential use and is also at the center of a real estate operation still in progress – the area, so to speak, falls in the same district where the risk of a future supermarket has enlivened the countryside electoral -, however it first needs to be reclaimed. The potential contamination was discovered some time ago during a series of negotiations for the acquisition of the Porta Cappuccina car park via exchange.

The investigations

The storage of the Amanup vehicles used was the subject of Georadar investigations carried out by the Geology and Geophysics Studio based in Siena, on behalf of the Arcovallato Company (the company that then sold Porta Cappuccina to the Municipality). These investigations have highlighted, below the ground level, some types of anomalies associated with the presence of underground services, reworked land with the probable presence of anthropic elements, and metal elements attributable to underground tanks or structures. In consideration of this, in view of a possible continuation of the preparatory activities for construction interventions in the area, it was necessary to proceed preliminarily with the implementation of an environmental investigation aimed at ascertaining the environmental state of the soil, subsoil and groundwater . In particular, the data acquired from the preliminary environmental investigation highlighted exceedances with respect to the limit values corresponding to the contamination threshold. The area was acquired by the Municipality of Pesaro in 1972 and the Municipality itself operated in it, through the municipal company Amanup and is still the owner of the area today. This scenario identifies the Municipality as owner and manager of the area through the municipal company Amanup. Wisp, which already deals with the reclamation of the sites that once hosted the fuel plants, is responsible for the characterization of the area for 50 thousand euros. If anomalies are detected (but also private tanks or wells), soil samples will have to be taken, all in accordance with Arpam.
