FANO It is difficult, as mathematics teaches, to make the 9 enter the 7, just as it appeared difficult for the mayor Luca Serfilippi to accept the requests that the centre-right components expressed to compose the municipal council: in fact, 7 places are available and 9 places are claimed. To the point that yesterday afternoon, in the meeting called to discuss these requests, the UDC secretary Stefano Pollegioni left the table in protest.

All requests

Taking the lion’s share was Fratelli d’Italia who, counting on the 4,580 votes received, asked for 3 departments, including the deputy mayor, the presidency of the municipal council and the vice-presidency of Aset. Thanks to the important and unexpected affirmation on the electorate obtained by the Fano Cambia Passo list, which obtained the second best position in the centre-right coalition, with 4,447 votes, the political force founded by Serfilippi himself asked for 2 councilors or alternatively 1 councilor and the presidency of Aset.

Not least was the League which with its 3,804 votes also asked for 2 departments, including the deputy mayor, the presidency of the City Council and the presidency of Aset, the latter being the two best paid extra-junta positions.

The anomalous proposal

Forza Italia with its 1,307 votes obtained together with Noi Moderates asked for the vice-presidency of Aset, to which Fiammetta Rinaldi would be addressed and a department for which the candidates would be: Mauro Talamelli, Antonino Terlizzi, Nevio Paganelli and Enzo Di Tommaso, from the third to sex on the list of preferences after Pollegioni. Finally, the Fano Civics have asked for a councilor for whom the nomination of Loredana Maghernino and the presidency of the Public Works commission for the incoming municipal councilor Kristian Forti are taken for granted. Impossible to please everyone.

The statement on the inconclusiveness of the meeting was tight. «The lists of the coalition for Fano – we read -, represented by their coordinators, met this afternoon (yesterday, ed.) to discuss the requests formulated by the various parties and defined together with the mayor the next steps to find, as soon as possible, an agreement on tasks. Now each party or list will meet to discuss the summary of the proposals made to the mayor. All the interlocutors, together with the mayor, have decided to convene the first majority meeting with all the elected representatives on Wednesday 19 June at 5.30 pm”. Signature from Fano Cambia Passo, Fratelli d’Italia, Lega, Forza Italia-Us moderates, Civici Fano, Italian Republican Party. Except the UDC.

New meeting tomorrow

Stefano Pollegioni was not present at the signing of the statement having left the meeting earlier. It is easy to imagine the problems within the Forza Italia Noi Moderati and UDC list. The name of Stefano Pollegioni, UDC standard-bearer from Fano, does not appear among the names put forward for the position of councilor, despite the fact that he was the second on the list to collect the most preferences after Fiammetta Rinaldi. The proposal for a department also includes Enzo Di Tommaso who shared the role of party secretary with her. By tomorrow Forza Italia will have to resolve the problem because tomorrow, in addition to dividing up the different tasks, we will also start discussing the names.

Mayor Serfilippi yesterday before the meeting had denied that there was an impasse in the formation of the council, which instead clearly emerges from the requests of the parties and civic lists. With related tensions. 9 departments have been claimed (with the alternative in one case of the presidency of Aset) but there are only 7 available.

The overall positions at stake in the requests formalized last Sunday to the mayor and discussed in yesterday’s meeting are 10, also including the roles of president of the city council and president and deputy of Aset.

The possible balance

The composition of the team must take into account the political weight of the 5 centre-right allies and the merits of the individuals (preferences and skills). Therefore, the possible point of failure remains the first hypothesis of the council: 2 councilors for FdI (Loretta Manocchi and Lucia Tarsi), 2 for the League (Alberto Santorelli and Gianluca Ilari), 1 in Fano changes pace with the presidency of Aset (Alessio Curzi the most voted but due to his skills the coordinator Giacomo Mattioli could enter the field), 1st to Civici Fano (Loredana Maghernino), 1st to Forza Italia.

For this box, the request of the same party appears anomalous, which diverts the elected Fiammetta Rinaldi, an accountant, to the vice-presidency of Aset, who has the right competence to be budget councilor. And she adds an unlikely shortlist of 4 names for the council. To the point that yesterday someone thought of an interlocutory proposal while awaiting the outcome of Sunday’s ballot in Urbino for any resources that might become available.

The role of deputy mayor

The presidency of the city council claimed by FdI and Lega must be added to the executive, which could go to Davide Del Vecchio, who has more votes than a third of the Lega. To prevent the council from being too unbalanced towards Meloni’s party, the Gambini method could be adopted, which, if he won in Urbino, would appoint the person who received the most votes as deputy mayor. In Fano with 650 preferences is Alberto Santorelli.
