Fifteen years and five sentences have passed, which (even if the judicial process is not yet concluded) have definitively ascertained the causes and responsibilities that led to the train massacre of 29 June 2009. However, the pain of those who , since that night of fire and sirens, he has lived with absence. With the void that the freight train loaded with LPG, which derailed and exploded at the station gates, created, killing 32 people. And not even the desire for redemption, the demand for safety, the fight for the prevention of accidents on the railways and in the workplace of which the association “The World I Wish”, which brings together the families of the victims, has supported interpreter.

These days are therefore full of memory and commitment, which accompany Viareggio towards the fifteenth anniversary of the train disaster of 29 June. That the city is called to live united, as it has remained united in recent years, demanding justice and truth, on its way towards Via Ponchielli.

The program of events opens on Friday in the “Place of memory and solidarity”, in via Aurelia Sud al Varignano, where the photographic exhibition “Not numbers but people” will be inaugurated (which will remain open until 28 June from 5pm to 11pm), dedicated to the victims of accidents at work and made available by the Ruggero Toffolutti association. At the Jenco theatre, on 22, 23 and 25 June, the event show “32, a beautiful thing” written by Ilaria Lonigro and Davide Moretti will be performed again. On 23 June, at the Club Nautico, the 38th edition of the “Regatalonga” will be held, in memory of the 32 victims of 29 June, and on the same day, at 9.30, the XV “Pulce e Carburato” Motorcycle Meeting will start from Piazza D’Azeglio . Also in the “Place of solidarity and memory” on Monday 24 June, at 6pm, meeting with the lawyers Gabriele Dalle Luche and Andrea Paolini.

Finally, the day of June 29th, which will open with mass at 11am in the Misericordia cemetery of Viareggio celebrated by Archbishop Paolo Giulietti, while at 6.30pm at the Chiesina dei Pescatori, on the Burlamacca quay in Darsena, “Non c’ is never silence” reading for four voices with Elisabetta Salvatori, Marco Azzurrini, Luca Barsottelli and Fabrizio Brandi. From there, at 9pm, the commemoration procession will leave towards Via Ponchielli where, at 11.48pm, the names of the 32 victims of the train accident will be read.
