The lawyer, the young man and the actor. At the registry office: Francesca Viggiano, Mattia Giorno, Fabiano Marti. He never mentioned them by name and surname, he limited himself to the contemptuous tone of the names. In the last few days, opened by the mayor’s intervention Rinaldo Melucci, we witnessed one of the most embarrassing controversies remembered in the recent political-administrative history of the city. On the one hand the mayor who expressed humiliating judgments on three of the most trusted councilors he had in his council in seven years of administration; on the other, the replies of the targeted former councilors who underlined limits and blunders (in reality the terms used were more colourful) which would have characterized the mayor’s action in the years we all lived together passionately.
The mayor attributed himself to the role of talent scoutshaving offered – in his words – a chance to those who – again according to him – until that moment had been relegated to anonymous political and professional posts. And Melucci laments the lack of gratitude towards him on the part of those who would have been illuminated by his rays of sunshine. The novelty, in the words of the mayor, lies in resounding rejection of the work of the three former councilors. However, he held positions of absolute importance for seven years and so, faced with their presumed inability, it is not clear why he kept them with him for such a long time. Not only that: he also stated that he even has some of them proposed new assignments before the breakup. Even more so, incomprehensible given his harsh judgment.
A boomerang intervention, that of the mayor: because in his words full of spite and insult there is the admission of having made completely the wrong choices. In rejecting the three former councilors, at times even ridiculing the results of their efforts in the council, Melucci did not realize that he had soundly rejected his work. An unconscious one confession that disowns itself.
On the other hand, it is difficult to understand how the three exes were able to coexist with the mayor for so many years in one such an unedifying scenarioaccording to the mutual exchange of accusations.
In all of this, in this decomposed flying of rags, the bitterness remains, as citizens, for such little respect for institutional decorum and for the position held. This useless controversy opened by the mayor offers a perception of substantial inadequacy. At his debut, in 2017, Melucci proposed himself for his will to «raise the bar». Seven years later, at least to witness these little curtains, we can say that the bar has sunk miserably.
