Lamezia Terme: Jazz at the Cloister of San Domenico: a success for the concert of the Cinquefrondi Ensemble

The jazz concert held last June 15th at the evocative Cloister of San Domenico in Lamezia Terme ended with great success. The event, organized by the AMA Calabria association in collaboration with the Liceo Statale “G. Rechichi” of Polistena, saw as protagonists the talented young people of the Ensemble of the Liceo Musicale of Cinquefrondi (RC) and is part of the Concert Season of AMA Calabria,/Lamezia Terme 2024. Among the other promoting bodies we remember: the Ministry of Culture, General Directorate of Entertainment; Calabria Region, Department of Culture; Municipality of Lamezia Terme.

The concert, which was part of the “Music Laboratory Together Jazz Interplay 3.0” project for the 2024 school year, represented the culmination of an excellent educational path aimed at training high-level jazz musicians.

Accompanying the young musicians on stage were two exceptional special guests: Francesco Gugliotta, baritone sax and Samuel Cerra, vibraphone as well as the teachers of the project: Alessandro Lemmo, clarinet; Nelly Creazzo, voice; Tommaso Pugliese, double bass.

The musical direction was entrusted to maestro Ferruccio Messinese, a highly experienced pianist and conductor, who led the ensemble in a repertoire rich in classic and modern jazz pieces.

The audience present was able to appreciate the quality of the performance of the young musicians, who demonstrated great talent, passion and preparation. A real show that managed to conquer even the most demanding palates.

The choice of Lamezia Terme as the location for this concert was not accidental. The organizers in fact wanted to pay homage to the rich musical scene of the city, which boasts a long tradition of significant artistic experiences, in fact both the Lamezia and Laureana dates are part of consolidated concert seasons, organized by AMA Calabria of Lamezia Terme, leading body in the sector.

Ultimately, this event represented an important opportunity for the young musicians of the Cinquefrondi High School to perform outside the provincial borders, interacting with a wider audience and consolidating their experience.

A real success for this project, which once again demonstrated the validity of the work carried out by the high school teachers and the passion of the young musicians for jazz.

A future full of music

The success of this tour represents an important starting point for the future of the Ensemble of the Liceo Musicale di Cinquefrondi. The young musicians will continue to perfect themselves and grow, with the aim of achieving increasingly important goals in the Italian and international jazz scene.
