Archeology of the Relic and Revelation in Viareggio

He will inaugurate the next one Thursday 20 June at 7.00 pm in the prestigious location of the Palace Hotel Of Viareggiothe bi-personal of Maicol Borghetti and Valentina Lucarini Orejon “Lumen: Archeology of the Relic and Revelation”, edited by Alessandro Romanini.

About 21 works on display divided as follows between the two artists: Maicol Borghetti presents 6 sculptures from the Mythos and Protos project of which 2 bronzes in lost wax casting, 4 mixed media sculptures, 3 syntographies on plexiglass from the Mythos and Protos project, 3 syntographies on plexiglass from the Portraits from the Future project. The artist Valentina Lucarini Orejon, however, presents 2 drawings in graphite on jute and plaster and 7 bronzes in lost wax casting. The bronzes are made in collaboration with the Versilia Artistic Foundry.

The works on display are a tribute to contemporary sculpture, experimenting with various expressive means, for a result of great visual impact that goes well with the Art Nouveau style of the rooms of the Palace Hotel.

Like the curator himself Alessandro Romaninideclares: “The two artists, despite having developed an extremely personal style and symbolic and iconographic universe, are united by an unshakable faith in the inquiring and revealing power of art.

A power that both analyze and express in a multimedia way, experimenting with various expressive means, from drawing to sculpture, from synthetic photography to 3D printing and other multidisciplinary interventions.
The relic of the title has a universalistic and trans-temporal value, which in the perspective of the two artists serves to make use of the accumulated experience of the past to shape the present and hypothesize the future.
Human, botanical, biological and artificial merge and integrate in the artist’s expressive methods, testifying to a vision that frees itself from that of the anthropocene in favor of an integration between the various dimensions of existence in a horizontal and dynamic above all that synergistically blends past and future.
For both, archeology is the discipline that studies the human cultures of the past and the relationships with the surrounding environment and mutual influences, but integrates these dynamics with a projective vision, respectful of the function of art as an antenna of the changes to come.
The technology that pervades our society becomes in the hands of the Tuscan artist an instrument of investigation and creation, freed from its media dimension.
Both artists use technology and technique as an integral element of the work; in the case of Lucarini Orejon the object symbols of the fusion techniques are transfigured in an expressive key.
The two artists restore to sculpture the role of the most anthropological of the arts, the ability to represent philosophical thought and existential reflection in plastic form.
In an era characterized by liquidity and hyperconnection, they restore solidity to thought.”

Valentina Lucarini Orejon makes nature dialogue with culture, where the former is also represented by anatomies traced on paper or forged in bronze in the melting pot, limbs, skulls and angel wings symbolizing flights of fancy inspired by fantasy and imagination .

For Maicol Borghetti, technology reconverts the functions of the means that shape our daily lives into a dimension of reflection for the user and a stimulus to interpretation.

Characters and objects that give a glimpse of a disturbing dimension in Freud’s sense, only apparently fantastic (here in Todorov’s sense) but more concretely hypothetical and potential.

So declares the Director of the Palace Hotel Maurizio Lavetti: Culture is at home at the Palace Hotel in Viareggio. We are pleased to host the exhibition Lumen: Archeology of Relic and Revelation, edited by Alessandro Romanini in the Art Nouveau rooms of our structure and we are certain of the success of this installation. The Palace offers a relaxing holiday in one of the most evocative places on the Viareggio seafront and we are certain that our guests will have the opportunity to visit and appreciate the artists’ precious works.

Short Bio Maicol Borghetti

Maicol Borghetti, a contemporary Italian visual artist, defines himself through various disciplines, including photography, 3D design, video, sculpture and electronic music. Born in Pietrasanta, he resides and works in Viareggio, where he has established his creative sanctuary, StudioB19, bringing his works to life.

He began his journey in the world of art at a very young age, dedicating his interest to photography and 3D graphics. Over the years, he embarks on a journey of exploration through various forms of artistic expression. Making the most of technology, he cultivates a deep passion for it, constantly experimenting with unconventional approaches and new ways of expressing his creativity.

The focal point of his work has always been the human being, which fascinates him both as an individual aesthetic figure and as a complex entity immersed in a journey to overcome the limits of time and space. Through his art, he investigates human existence and our role in the universe, seeking to establish connections between past, present and future. His experience in creating short films enriched Borghetti with numerous skills, including composing soundtracks. His educational path allowed him to explore widely, following the desire to free himself from conventions and be surprised by his creations in a new and uncontaminated way.

The artist tends to focus on the realization of projects rather than single works. “Exploring the Ego of Times” is a perfect example of this specificity. This project includes sculptures, videos, synthetic photographs and electronic music, finding space in archaeological museum environments, altering them without destabilizing them. This creates a creative short circuit in which the spectator, the artist and the public converge in participating in the same experience.

For Borghetti, creativity is an endless journey, where art becomes a bridge between the inner and outer worlds. It is a continuous path of discovery and connection with the beauty and mystery of human existence. With constant passion and dedication, Maicol Borghetti continues to explore new artistic avenues, aspiring to inspire people’s intimacy through his works and his projects.
