UDINE, 26 JUNE – The Municipality of Udine has proclaimed citizen mourning today for the death of Shimpei Tominaga, the Japanese entrepreneur who was the victim of the brawl that occurred in the center of the Friulian capital on 22 June and died last night in the Udine hospital. This was announced by the mayor of Udine, Alberto Felice De Toni, who signed the measure, to “testify the closeness of the whole city to the pain of the Tominaga family”. Flags will be blacked or at half-mast in all public buildings. “We believe we are interpreting the sentiment of the entire community, deeply affected by the news of the tragic death of the Japanese entrepreneur – said the mayor – who courageously intervened in a scuffle and was shot to death. A valiant gesture which was unfortunately followed by a tremendously painful epilogue “. “The administration therefore deems it necessary to proclaim city mourning today – continued the mayor – as a sign of condolence, closeness and reflection and invites citizens, institutions and owners of productive activities to express their condolences and participate to citizen mourning, in the forms and ways deemed most appropriate”. The Municipality of Udine has also decided to suspend all cultural activities included in the UdinEstate program scheduled for today.
