Artimino smells of orange blossoms. Everything is ready for the wedding of Cecilia Rodriguez and Ignazio Moser, which will be celebrated tomorrow at 6 pm at the villa “La Ferdinanda”. The village on the hills of Carmignano is already off limits today. Tonight at the restaurant “La cantina del Redi” there will be a dinner reserved only for the two families of the bride and groom: the entire place has been booked so there will be no other customers at the tables. The outside garden has been screened with blackout panels so that nothing is visible from the nearby houses. Artimino is no stranger to celebrity weddings, but on this occasion the Prato police station has arranged a massive security service involving the police, Digos, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza as well as the Carmignano and Anc police.
From 3pm today to Sunday until midnight in Piazza San Carlo and on the entire road system of Via Cinque Martiri, Via Papa Giovanni XXIII and Via della Chiesa there will be a ban on transit and parking with forced removal throughout the entire area of Piazza San Carlo and via Cinque Martiri, excluding residents, emergency and authorized vehicles. The one-way system is established on viale Papa Giovanni XXIII between via Don Baldini up to the intersection with via Cinque Martiri, heading towards the villa.
The Medici villa will be closed and guarded by private security, the mayor Edoardo Prestanti will bring the documents for the civil wedding that will be celebrated by a friend of the couple. Some guests will leave Artimino on Sunday evening after the party, others will also stay on Monday and the swimming pool has been made available where there will be a brunch. Cecilia stopped several times in Artimino to follow the preparations, always asking for maximum privacy.
Sandro Cioni, from the La Torre ice cream shop, has decided to “remember” this wedding with three new flavors of ice cream: “Wedding with dried figs” (thanks to Daniela Daniele’s figs from the Puro Carmignano company), “Honeymoon” and “Macedonia Rodriguez”. Cecilia has already tasted the ice cream in recent days and appreciated it: “The ice cream is ready for dinner – explains Cioni – but we don’t know if the restaurant staff will take it or if the family will come to the ice cream shop. However, these flavors will then be available on sale all summer as a reminder of this extraordinary event”. Even the ice cream shop was asked not to take photographs but the joy of having contributed, even with a small gesture, to a fairytale wedding still remains.
