From the surprising three-dimensionality of Sicily as a key land for understanding Italy to the future of the world of aerospace industry, these are the key themes of the episode of Casa Italia broadcast tomorrow 27 June on Rai Italia, RaiPlay and Rai2 in the third evening.
At the beginning we will talk about Sicily, a ‘key to everything’ land, as Goethe wrote, crossing the alleys of two cities between Baroque and Magna Graecia: Ragusa and Syracuse. A direct narration of these two ‘Sicilian stories’ where tourism, in ever-increasing numbers, wants to savor the story of a place, a possibility that is more tangible today than ever, as happens in Ragusa thanks to the idea of some local inhabitants who they opened the doors of their home offering a ‘personal tour’.
From the cord that links Ragusa to Ibla to the one between the rock necropolises of Pantalica and the city of Syracuse. History, people, multiculturalism: how can we make the tourist access routes to Sicily even more interesting and what are the possibilities for attracting young people to the heart of the ‘deep south’? Roberta Ammendola, from the Saxa Rubra studios, will take stock with Francesco Italia, Mayor of Syracuse and Giuseppe Cassì, Mayor of Ragusa.
He turns the page by delving into the topic of defense and the ‘space economy’ with a global market worth 400 billion dollars, a fundamental and growing sector. Space programs have been included by many Nations in their strategic plans which revolve around the importance of satellites useful for telecommunications, weather observations up to those used for the military sector. The satellite industry is in great shape with the United States and Elon Musk’s private company Starlink occupying the top followed at a distance by China, Great Britain and Russia.
Europe gets in the game with ‘IRIS square’, an ambitious project that aims to offer secure satellite interconnectivity capabilities to private and government users. In Italy the aerospace industry is worth 3 billion euros with an estimated investment of 7.3 billion euros by 2026. In this ‘space perspective’, what are the opportunities and what are the possible risks? Roberta Ammendola will talk with Giuseppe Cossiga, Aiad Director and Jacopo Recchia, Aviorec CEO.
We will remain along the peninsula telling, from the ‘Esperienza Europa David Sassoli’ space in Rome, the premiere of the book ‘Io, l’Italia e l’Europa. Free thoughts of an Italian-European patriot’ by Alessandro Butticè, Brigadier General of the Guardia di Finanza, who with these pages wants to continue to serve his two homelands by telling what unites us to Europe in its diversity.
And then another look at the elections for the new corporate positions in the non-profit institution ‘AmCham’, the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy, starting with the appointment of President Stefano Lucchini. Part of a network present in 123 countries, it is a real community that for 80 years has guaranteed peace and progress on both sides of the Atlantic in a privileged dialogue from politics to the economic/commercial sector between Italy and the United States.
