In compliance with the rights of the persons under investigation, the presumption of innocence and the necessary trial verification, as far as is currently known, subject to further investigation and pending judgement, the following is communicated.

The State Police has notified the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations, issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Matera, against three women, all residents of Matera, investigated in various capacities for aggravated and continuous residential burglary, receiving stolen goods, possession of clandestine weapons and illegal possession of ammunition.

From the investigative reconstruction carried out by the Flying Squad, one of the three women, 26 years old, apparently took possession of a series of silver and gold jewelery (chains, bracelets, earrings, medals, necklaces) stolen on several occasions from inside the apartment where he worked as babysitter. The young woman was hired in February last year and she had the keys to the house and all the spaces in the house, until the landlady discovered the disappearance of the valuables and turned to the State Police.

Another woman of the same age, cohabitant of the first, as well as the mother of the young woman, are involved in the affair, accused of receiving stolen goods since, according to the investigation findings, they would have resold the jewels at some gold buyers in the city, receiving over €1,500.

Furthermore, the two young women, who live together, are also under investigation for another episode of receiving stolen goods, as they allegedly received the goods from another theft, committed in Matera, by still unknown subjects. But that’s not all, because the two women were also investigated for possession of clandestine weapons and illegal possession of ammunition: in competition with each other, without reporting it to the Authority, they held 6 cal. 12 shotguns, which they kept in their bedroom; always in the same bedroom they illegally held 2 metal artefacts, which could be assembled together and which together made up a hand-crafted device, equivalent to a clandestine firearm.
