The presentation event, open to all citizens, will take place in the D’Annunzio room of the Aurum in Pescara on 28 June: Learning 2 help – The volunteering workshop.

This is an event that reaches the culmination of an international project born with the aim of promoting youth volunteering and social entrepreneurship, spreading the meaning of the associations’ commitment among the younger segments of the population.

The protagonists of this project, included in the European Union Erasmus + programme, are the Polish foundation Fundacja Przyjdź of Krakow and, in Italy, the Caritas Foundation of the Archdiocese of Pescara-Penne Onlus.

«For the many young people who brought the project to life, volunteering is still an important value that offers the possibility of growing as aware citizens within our communities», declares Corrado De Dominicis, director of the Caritas Foundation. «The challenge for us adults is to believe in their dreams, invest in their hopes to support them and not make them fall into the resignation and loneliness that undermine our time».

The Learning 2 help project (learning to help), after 18 months of exchanges between the two countries, has produced an interactive board game (a modality that is increasingly popular among those under 30 despite the excessive power of social media), which will be presented in context of the event and which, not only provides entertainment, but also develops empathy skills and shows effective ways to help others in various life situations; together with the board game, a comic was also created showing the “adventures” of young people who dedicate themselves to others and 4 videos in Italian, Polish and English with testimonies from young volunteers and beneficiaries of the interventions, produced during the experience planning.

Friday’s event sees the collaboration of the Volunteering Service Center, CSV Abruzzo and the Piccolo Teatro Orazio Costa, directed by Domenico Galasso.

“The interactive board game is the most innovative part,” explains Casto Di Bonaventura, president of CSV Abruzzo, “because it is not only a form of entertainment but also develops empathy skills and shows effective ways to help others in various life situations. It is based on contemporary problems, educates, raises awareness and promotes positive social values. The purpose of the game, in fact, is to work together to overcome all the problems encountered along the way.”

This is the program of the event:

  • 5.30pm welcome
  • 5.45pm we play Learning2Help
  • 18:00 institutional greetings
  • 6.15pm presentation of the Learning2Help project
