First appointment, next June 25th, the presentation of Paola Di Turi’s book “Doctor, does chickenpox come out in the evening or in the morning?”
A new and significant collaboration is born in the city, in the context of the diffusion of culture and reading, between the municipal administration led by Mayor Franz Caruso and the social promotion association “La Giostra”, chaired by Rosa Lorenzon. With a view to ever greater openness to the territory, the municipal administration, with the Mayor Franz Caruso and the delegate for Culture, Antonietta Cozza, intended to undertake a new synergistic path aimed at promoting opportunities for meeting and cultural debate even outside beyond the places of culture that belong to the Municipality.
A first appointment will be, on June 25th, at 7.00 pm, in the historic residence “Giostra Vecchia”, owned by Rosa Lorenzon, the presentation of the book “Doctor, does chickenpox come out in the evening or in the morning? – Tragi-comic misadventures of a pediatrician”, published by Aliberti. The author is the pediatrician Paola Di Turi who, despite being from Cosenza, lives and works in Bologna. Franco Laratta and Antonietta Cozza will introduce the meeting with Paola Di Turi. Assunta Morrone will talk to the author, who is enjoying a moment of particular notoriety as a very frequent guest of Geppi Cucciari, in the Rai broadcast, “Splendida cornice”.
The book is a hilarious “diary from the front”, which is a pediatric clinic on the outskirts of Bologna, in which doctor Paola Di Turi shares the most disparate anxieties with the parents of her young patients, faced with a task that seems to have become beyond the capabilities of most. Yet being a parent is a profession as old as the world: how can we make apprehensive mothers, fathers who feel incompetent, grandparents who are too present, overcome the fear of doing everything wrong? The precious pages of the book, full of truly hilarious questions which are those that parents ask the pediatrician, will help many to face the magnificent journey of motherhood and fatherhood with more lightness (and, perhaps, with fewer phone calls to the doctor). The main purpose of the “La Giostra” Association, according to the admission of its President Rosa Lorenzon, is to implement active policies in the historic center of Cosenza, “to bring people back to walk these streets, to frequent these places”.
Properties such as the historic Giostra Vecchia residence, of which Rosa Lorenzon feels almost more like the custodian than the owner, are the community’s heritage, because they are a part of the history of our city and therefore knowing and frequenting them is extremely important. The Dimora has already hosted other initiatives of this kind, from book presentations to screenings of short films, dedicated to issues of social relevance such as immigration and emigration, but the collaboration initiated with an important institution such as the Municipality intends to add not only an element of novelty, but also giving added value to what has been done so far, becoming one of the tools for disseminating the initiatives promoted by the Administration.
The common objective is also to create, at the end of each initiative, a moment of conviviality and exchange of ideas between people who in many cases are meeting for the first time, but also to actively contribute to ensuring that citizens of Cosenza can fall in love with their historic center again.
