The most discussed ordinance of the summer, which aims to solve the problems of the villages upstream which are overrun by those going to the river, especially at weekends, creating various inconveniences on traffic.
What will happen
For this reason, especially in the first moments, the Municipal Police will preside at the entrance to the crossroads towards Gaudine, guaranteeing a certain flexibility towards those who have not had the opportunity to learn about the news for the summer and which prohibits transit and parking in that stretch of via Alta Tambura.
Given that there are also other ways to travel on that road. In addition to two-wheeled vehicles, there is public transport. Not shuttle buses, as requested by various entities, but line 78 which covers the Massa-Resceto route and vice versa at the weekend. This is already a start, which could be strengthened if necessary. Looking back at the ordinance, this was introduced at the beginning of June, and applies to every Saturday and Sunday in July and August, including August Bank Holiday. Prohibition of transit and parking from 8.30am to 5.30pm for all vehicles, except two-wheeled vehicles, residents, residents, those going to work, restaurants or accommodation facilities.
The commander speaks
And in recent days, the commander of the Municipal Police says Giuliano Vitali, «the response from residents was positive. We had several meetings and distributed over 300 passes to those who need to be able to transit: those who have a fund, a second home, those who care for relatives. In short, all the situations that allow transit, especially in the first stretch of Guadine, the most critical and where I remember there is a 24-hour parking ban. We are currently waiting for the final requests, which may also be submitted later. For venues, such as restaurants or accommodation facilities, we will issue some passes that they can deliver to customers.” If there are any particular needs, the place will be manned by agents: «Our objective is to facilitate and indeed make the various needs coexist. Especially at the beginning we guarantee a certain flexibility, understanding the various situations. Having set up a garrison with staff is precisely because we want to coexist with the need to live peacefully, but safely and maintaining the correct usability of the road. We have redone horizontal and vertical signs, carried out cleaning works along the road and the river to recover spaces for those who live there; also because – remember – the ordinance is only active on weekends”.
The bus
However, the issue of how to reach the river for those who are not authorized remains, and which was the reason for the various controversies that followed in the aftermath of the ordinance. For this reason, some associations and political parties had put forward the proposal for a shuttle bus service.
However, as the local public transport councilor says Alice Rossetti, there is line 78 which from the train station, passing through Massa center, takes you to Resceto. On Saturday there are three trips, lasting about half an hour and with stops also in Guadine and Gronda: at 6.30 am, at 1.30 pm, finally at 6.20 pm. On the return, however, the times are (starting from Resceto) 7 and 08, 13 and 53, 18 and 57 always with stops in Gronda and Guadine. On Sunday there are only two trips, at 2.30pm and at 6.35pm with departure from the Massa railway station, and at 3.08pm and at 7.1pm with departure from Resceto. “At present these are the stops, the only critical issue but we’ll see how to do it is that there are no lines on Sunday morning.” In this regard, Rossetti says, «the Municipality of Massa participates in the costs of the service. If we see any critical issues, we will consider integrating the timetables with Autolinee Toscane. We have already spoken approximately with the company about this eventuality, but we will check during construction whether the route will be sufficient”.
