The Court of Review of Naples, accepting the request of the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, canceled the precautionary custody order against Romualdo Del Mauro, 29 years old from Montesarchio, accused of violence, resistance to a public official, injuries, threats, damage aggravated and attempted arson. As will be remembered, on 19 May 2024, a group of 10 inmates started a revolt in the Benevento prison. In particular, some inmates obstructed the closing of the gate, encouraging other inmates to escape from the cells and preventing the officers from reaching the site of the revolt with threats and violence, hindering the exercise of one’s duty. During the riot the inmates devastated the structure of the police station and various objects with iron bars. During the moments of unrest, two officers were injured and had to be transported to the emergency room of the “San Pio” hospital. Furthermore, this group of prisoners was responsible for an attempted fire because by using an open stove and placing a gas cylinder on it they carried out actions aimed at creating an explosion. The precautionary order against Romualdo del Mauro and the other prisoners was issued on 22 May 2024. The Court of Review of Naples, accepting the arguments of the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, annulled the precautionary order and released Romualdo Del Mauro from prison.
