Trieste – As part of the Mare Nord Est event, last Sunday 16 June the Turin athlete Silvia Boidi, a non-competitive cross-country swimmer, swam 18 kilometers in the Gulf of Trieste for the “Crossing of the 3 Nations”.

The non-competitive cross-country crossing had a route from Punta Salvore to Trieste and 4 Croatian athletes also participated, who accompanied Silvia Boidi for some stretches along the route. Among them also the deputy mayor of Umag, Mauro Jurman, who accompanied her at sea until the exit of the port of Savudrija.

The swimmer was supposed to cover a distance of 27 kilometers between Croatia, Slovenia and Italy, but the route was shortened to avoid a stretch of rough sea.

Boidi arrived in front of Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia at 4.30pm, awaited by the local public and numerous tourists. The patrol boats of the Guardia di Finanza and the Trieste Coast Guard are on site.
