The 45 years of Roccaverano DOP at the Carrettesca fair

On the occasion of the 45th year of PDO recognition, Roccaverano celebrates its two souls, that of the historic village and that of the dairy, famous throughout the world. The XXIII edition of the Carrettesca will start on Saturday 29 June (at 7pm) offering two days of taste and entertainment. «As per tradition, during the celebrations the Knight of Roccaverano Dop will be elected, an honor which this year will be assigned to Pietro Carlo Adami, President of the National Organization of Cheese Tasters, for having distinguished himself in his commitment to increasing the quality of product”, explains the president of the Consortium Fabrizio Garbarino.

The Carrettesca 2024 on Saturday will offer a gastronomic journey based on traditional dishes cooked by the Pro Loco of the Bormida Valley and a guided tasting of wines from the Barbera d’Asti Consortium and Vini del Monferrato combined with different maturations of Roccaverano Dop. There will be a screening of the video celebrating 45 years of Denomination and then live music with “The Dugongos” and a DJ set.

On Sunday, at 10am, the market exhibition will be inaugurated (watch out for Rob-in certified products) and at 12pm everyone will be at the table with the Pro loco’s dishes, delicacies ranging from Roccaverano gnocchi to friciule for all tastes, to Puccia, to sandwiches with anchovies. At 3pm the eagerly awaited masterclass on Roccaverano Dop, led by Onaf Master Tasters, and at 4pm there will be the election of the Knight of Roccaverano Dop 2024. This will be followed by the awards ceremony of the Onaf Competition “The best Roccaverano Dop on the table”, selected by the jury, and “The best Roccaverano Dop at the fair” voted by the public. For the little ones, games, music and cheese-making workshops.
