The Apuliae art festival is about to restart – Not alone but well accompanied, the event organized by the Spazio Musica Association and curated by maestro Dino De Palma. The highly anticipated musical event, which this year reaches its 21st edition, takes place from 30 June to 25 August, always on Sunday with the exception of the usual Peace Concert on 22 July, which will be held on Monday. All shows, with free admission, will take place at 9.00 pm in the Villa Comunale of Foggiaa large space, suitable to accommodate the ever-increasing audience of the event and set up by the Municipality of Foggia for the city’s summer initiatives.

It starts on Sunday 30 June with “I will always love you”, a tribute to the queen of world pop soul, Whitney Houston, an excellent interpreter of songs that have become immortal. The concert is entrusted to the ICO Suoni del Sud Orchestra, directed by maestro Agostino Ruscillo and with the voice of Angela Semerano, who will give exciting interpretations of the greatest hits of one of the most iconic and influential artists in the history of music.

Sunday 7 July will be the turn of “Renatissimo”. Ànema, with the extraordinary participation of Enzo Decaro, will pay homage to one of the greatest authors and performers of the Neapolitan and Italian musical scene of the second half of the twentieth century, Renato Carosone. His extraordinary artistic abilities have made him an international star, as demonstrated by the recent global success of the remix of Tu vuo’ fa’ l’americano, which we will listen to during the evening together with other great hits such as Torero, Caravan Perol, Maruzzella.

Sunday 14 July, “Mediterranean vibrations”. A concert characterized by rhythm and elegance, in which the colors and scents of the Mediterranean will be the leitmotif of a completely acoustic set that aims to combine “tribality” and refinement through the use of traditional and characteristic percussion instruments. Leading us on this journey, made of music and words, among the great melodies and rhythms of the Mediterranean, are the voice of David Blamires with Marco Zurzolo on sax, Antonio Onorato and Martino De Cesare on guitars, Paki Palmieri on ethnic percussion and the Orchestra of Magna Grecia directed by maestro Angelo Nigro.

The traditional Peace Concert will be held on Monday 22 July, which is held annually in memory of one of the most disastrous war events ever, the bombings that devastated our city in the summer of ’43. Two well-known artists on the Italian music scene will perform, Eduardo De Crescenzo and Julian Oliver Mazzariello. The concert “It happened in Naples” will be a journey through classical Neapolitan song, from 1800 to 1950, to tell the new generations about a miracle that happened in Naples, when fine musicians and great poets mixed their talents and the song became “Art” . We will listen to songs like Era de maggio, I’ te vurria vasa’, Luna nova and many others.

Followed by the “Deep Purple Tribute” concert on Sunday 28 July it will be an opportunity to celebrate the iconic music of Deep Purple, the legendary English rock band. It will be the band Strange Kind of Woman (SKOW), with the Magna Grecia Symphony Orchestra directed by maestro Valter Sivilotti, who will revive the relationship between rock and symphonic music, relaunching a tradition of which Deep Purple were the pioneers together with the Beatles , to Frank Zappa, to our New Trolls.

Sunday 4 August we proceed with “He who laughs well in Naples laughs well”, an original project by the Siponto actor and singer Vincenzo De Michele who, accompanied by the Suoni del Sud Ensemble, will stage everything that makes you smile about Naples. The Neapolitan “macchietta”, absolute protagonist of the Cafè-Chantant and Tabarìn bars of the early 1900s, returns to the stage to recall the amusing scripts of the great authors of Neapolitan romances who enjoy “mocking” the most particular “characters” of the daily life. Under the radar throughout the evening, love, but this time told in a very comical way!

Sunday 11 August will be the turn of Francesca Leone & Guido Di Leone Quartet with “Historia do Samba”. An engaging and rhythmic evening in which bossa nova will be the protagonist. The quartet, made up of renowned jazz musicians, will perform songs without borders and without age, ranging from Brazilian songs to those from the entire South American area.

The event will end on Sunday 25 August with “Tango sensations”, a unique and unusual journey into the history of tango. An interesting synthesis between the sound world of jazz and that of Tango Nuevo. Leading us on an exciting and seductive journey from traditional tango to the jazz and avant-garde influences of Astor Piazzolla, an exceptional duo Fabio Furia on bandoneon and Marco Schirru on piano.

The initiative is organized by the sociocultural association Spazio Musica, with the support of the Puglia Region, and is included in the “Foggia Estate” billboard, set up by the municipal administration of the capital.

All concerts will have free entry and will take place at 9.00 pm in the Villa Comunale of Foggia. Entry is permitted subject to availability without the need for reservation starting from 8.30 pm from the side entrances of Via Scillitani and via M. Mazzei (formerly via Galliani).
