Once the time for comparisons is over, the week has truly begun which will lead to the expected run-off next Sunday and Monday and the choice of the new mayor of Civitavecchia who will succeed Ernesto Tedesco. On the one hand, in strict alphabetical order, Massimiliano Grasso, supported by Fratelli d’Italia, Lega, Civitavecchia 2030, Lista Grasso and La Svolta and on the other Marco Piendibene supported by the Democratic Party, the Green Alliance and the Left – Demos and the Civic Union for Piendibene mayor.

And there was talk of connections and in fact something in this direction has moved. Piendibene has signed a pact with Vincenzo D’Antò and will be supported by the 5 Star Movement, in what is to all intents and purposes the only official alliance in this ballot. “It is an important choice – explain Piendibene and D’Antò – which establishes a pact that will allow two political cultures which at every level represent the alternative to the right to propose in Civitavecchia a platform for overcoming a very sad period which has seen Palazzo of the Pincio humiliated by a bungled and impalpable management, made up of reshuffles and little else”. Piendibene and D’Antò finally talk about a pact of trust with the people of Civitavecchia and about joining forces for a change of historical paradigm. A choice that changes the possible city council in the event of success of the center-left. In the possible majority, four councilors will belong to the 5 Star Movement: in addition to D’Antò, Lucia Aprea, Alessandra Lecis and Dario Menditto. The centre-left mayoral candidate will also be voted for by Roberta Galletta who has openly taken sides despite having no official affiliation. Civitavecchia Popolare did the same, speaking of a closed door on the part of Piendibene due to a formal appearance but at the same time inviting their supporters to make a civilized choice and go to the polls to express what they believe to be an anti-fascist vote. The agreement between Forza Italia and Grasso seemed one step away but instead nothing happened. In fact, from the Fratelli d’Italia headquarters they communicated that in the second round there would be no agreement between the mayoral candidate Massimiliano Grasso and Forza Italia, which had supported Paolo Poletti in the first round. A decision, apparently, arrived in light of the opposition expressed by the Brothers of Italy and the other parties of the coalition. Finally, Poletti stated that the lists linked to him in the first round will choose independently whether to vote for one or the other mayoral candidate. Now the ball is in the voters’ court who will have to decide who will be the next mayor of Civitavecchia.
