An electrocardiograph for the San Donato transfusion center

Arezzo, 17 June 2024 – An electrocardiograph for the Transfusion Department of San Donato in Arezzo. The equipment, worth around 4 thousand euros, was donated this morning by the Arezzo Rotary Club and Calcit Arezzo ODV to the department directed by Dr. Pietro Pantone, head of the transfusion network of the Tuscany South-East ASL.

«This electrocardiograph will allow us to shorten the time for donation – explains Dr. Pietro Pantone -. In fact, two different visits are needed before arriving at the actual donation which, at the moment, only takes place on the patient’s third visit to the transfusion centre.

Aspiring donors, in fact, must make an initial visit to assess suitability, followed by a second visit to undergo an electrocardiogram followed by a third visit to carry out the actual donation. The electrocardiograph available at the Arezzo transfusion center will allow one access to be eliminated, combining suitability examination and electrocardiogram at the same time for the benefit of the donor and also with a view to cutting the time needed to arrive at the donation.”

«I want to thank the Arezzo Rotary Club and Calcit – declares Barbara Innocenti, Director of PO San Donato – for this new donation which will enrich our transfusion centre. This equipment adds to the numerous donations given by Calcit and Rotary to our structure and for which we can only be grateful to the citizens of Arezzo who believe in their hospital and in the healthcare workers who work every day to ensure performance and services”.

«We decided to participate in the purchase of this electrocardiograph, in collaboration with the Rotafry Club Arezzo – declares Giancarlo Sassoli, president of Calcit Arezzo – because we consider this instrumentation very useful in the activities carried out daily by the Transfusion Center of the San Donato Hospital in Arezzo» . «For years now, an excellent relationship has been created between our Club and Calcit, through various services that we carry out together, as in this case – declares the president of the Arezzo Rotary Club, Marco Genalti -.

And it is with this spirit that we wanted to participate, as Rotary, in donating the electrocardiograph. The Arezzo Rotary has many professional members who experience the various operational realities of the city: sensors capable of capturing needs and requirements as happened on this occasion.

For us, this is a service in full Rotarian spirit, given that our club has always supported the Arezzo healthcare system and in favor of people in difficulty, finding ways to improve the quality of life of citizens for the benefit of the public interest.

The Arezzo Rotary Club makes its expertise available to respond to the problems and needs of society and our city.”
