20-year-old Samuele Battistella accused of murder

Three days of agony and then there death: passed away tragically Shimpei Tominagathe 56-year-old Japanese entrepreneur based in Udine savagely beaten, in the night between last Friday and Saturday, by five boys who now, with their death, will see their positions become much more serious.

In particular, one of the subjects involved in the clash, the 20-year-old Samuele Battistella (the one who threw the punch that led to the death of the 56-year-old), will now have to answer for the crime of Pre-Intentional Murder. Furthermore, together with the others, he will also have to answer for the crime of aggravated brawl.

The beating of Shimpei took place in the center of the Friulian city. The businessman was hit after he intervened to try to restore calm after noticing an attack on a man.

Five young people were involved in the fight: Samuele Battistella, from Mareno di Piave, Daniele Wedam and Abdallah Djoumaa, both residents of Conegliano, and Ivan Boklac and Oleksandr Vitaliyovich Petrov, Ukrainians and residents of Pescara.

For the first three, the judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Udine, shortly before the entrepreneur’s death was registered, had decided that the precautionary measure of detention in prison should be applied.

Boklac and Vitaliyovich Petrov were instead banned from staying in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

According to what emerged from the investigations, the young people are part of a gang that has behind it small thefts and even a robbery that took place on 11 November 2022 in Conegliano. The police had held Abdallah Djouamaa responsible, together with Samuele Battistella, for the attack on the owner of the Tribeca bar which occurred in a park in the Lourdes neighbourhood.

From what has been reconstructed, the two boys who were just over 18 had stolen 2 thousand euros from the bar owner. After following him, they punched him in a park and took away the day’s takings.

The confirmation of the death of Shimpei Tominaga

The final tests to ascertain the state of brain death of Tominaga, who had been hospitalized in very serious conditions due to the injuries sustained, began on the morning of Tuesday 25 June.

The diagnosis of death was carried out in the presence of the family members (wife and son arrived a few hours earlier from Japan) following a procedure that takes place with an electroencephalogram continuously for 20 minutes.
