The Police Commissioner of Bolzano, Paolo Sartori, has ordered a series of extraordinary control operations in the field of crime prevention and urban decay. The police forces, including the Bolzano Police Headquarters, the POLFER, the canine units of the Guardia di Finanza and the Local Police, with the support of the Crime Prevention Department of the State Police, have intensified checks during the last weekend and until today morning.

Areas Under Control

The operations involved over 60 agents and were concentrated in various critical areas of the city: Viale Druso, Via Alto Adige, Via Garibaldi, Via dei Cappuccini, Via Perathoner, Vicolo San Giovanni, the railway station and the surrounding streets, as well as the center historical. Particular attention was paid to areas known for drug dealing and other illicit activities.

Specific Interventions

During the operations, a State Police patrol stopped a 30-year-old Gambian citizen, identified as CB, without documents. CB, who landed in Sicily in 2017, had a rejected request for international protection and a series of criminal records for drug dealing and theft. The Police Commissioner issued an expulsion decree and ordered his immediate transfer to the “Ponte Galeria” Repatriation Center in Rome.

Two people without justified reason for being in Bolzano were identified and removed with mandatory deportation orders.

Prevention in school areas

During the operations, special attention was paid to the areas adjacent to the schools, in particular at the institutes in via Luigi Cadorna and the Torricelli Scientific High School in via Rovigo. These controls aim to prevent malicious people from approaching students.
