Serbia’s adventure at Euro2024 begins on the wrong foot. Stojkovic’s national team was beaten 1-0 by England and leaves the match in Gelsenkirchen with zero points. A setback that puts Milinkovic-Savic and his teammates in the position to immediately win the second match of the group scheduled for Thursday afternoon, kick-off at 3pm, against Slovenia who instead drew the first match against Denmark. Winning at all costs is the objective if you still want to hope to progress to the round of 16.
Race in the shade instead for Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian striker failed to leave his mark on a complicated evening against the English defenders. At the end of the match the Juventus striker commented on the knockout to the microphones of the official UEFA channels:
“We played against one of the favorite national teams to win the tournament – began the Juventus number 9 -. It was very difficult for us in the first half because we had too much respect for them. Of course, they deserve it because they are a very strong team and – continued Vlahovic – their results speak for themselves, but in the second half we saw that we could compete against them. Now we have to look at the next matches.”
