It is not known exactly what happened, perhaps an illness. What is certain is that a 58-year-old man from Trentino lost his life, under the pouring rain of yesterday evening. His name was Alessandro Fonsatti and he ran the tobacco shop on Via degli Olmi, in the “stilt houses”. What at first seemed like an accident actually turned out to be a terrible fatality. It all happened shortly after 8.30pm, when a man driving a motorcycle fell alone in via Sanseverino. Two motorists witnessed the scene. The fact that the man did everything by himself suggests an illness, but no hypothesis is ruled out. The man was proceeding north, towards the city center on Via Sanseverino, near the Albere district. Precisely he was next to the entrance to the Conad supermarket. According to initial reconstructions, the motorbike was proceeding slowly, on an alternating one-way road, near a road construction site, when it suddenly ended up on the ground. The motorcyclist collapsed on the asphalt due to what appears to have been a heart attack. Next to him, a couple in a car, stopped at the traffic light installed for the works. The two passengers in the car, a white small car, told the police what they saw. Almost at a standstill, the motorcyclist slipped to the ground for no apparent reason. In fact, he had not been hit in any way by the car, which was actually stationary. Here is the hypothesis of illness. Emergency services were quickly brought to the scene with an ambulance, but attempts to resuscitate the man were immediately in vain. The permanent firefighters of Trento also support 118. The local police also provided information and clarified the dynamics of the facts. Surveys that lasted a few hours, the man’s body remained for the entire duration of the inspection lying on his back, on the road surface, under a pouring rain, which last night never seemed to stop. A fatal illness while driving, under the surprised gaze of the motorists who were next to the centaur, who, like all the health workers and officers last night, could not help but observe the death before their eyes. Not even they could intervene. Unfortunately, his death was sudden. Alessandro Fonsatti’s family was notified of the tragedy in the evening.
