Is called Id al-adhain Islam it is the Feast of the Sacrifice of Abraham and the second most important anniversary for the faithful of Allah after the month of fasting, i.e. Ramadan.

So yesterday, Sunday 16 June, the Islamic community of Tivoli and Guidonia Montecelio gathered at the “Al Abrar” cultural centerat number 2 of via Tazio Nuvolari, in the Barco industrial area, in Tivoli Terme, to celebrate Eid-al-Adha, with the sighting of the new moon, during which, as per tradition, the elderly are visited and gifts to children.

From 7am to 10am around a thousand faithful, including Moroccan, Egyptian, Tunisian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Albanian and Romanian citizens and even Italiansthey spread the carpets and recited the special outdoor prayer.

According to custom, Muslims wore long white dresses, to recall the contextual pilgrimage to the sacred city, and brightly colored dresses, as a sign of celebration.

The Id al-adha officially began on Saturday evening, June 15, at sunset, and will end on Wednesday afternoon, June 19.

During three days of the Feast of Sacrifice every Muslim family will sacrifice a lamb or a cow at home to be divided into three parts to be given respectively to the poor, relatives and friends.
