It had never been seen before Amalfi Coast a football event capable of mobilizing such a large presence of law enforcement. A massive deployment of men and vehicles to guarantee security was deployed yesterday in Maiori on the occasion of the second leg final for the promotion of Serie D between the Amalfi Coast and Bisceglie.
About thirty law enforcement officers in total, both in uniform and in plain clothes: come on Salerno Police Headquarters sent the mobile department of State Police (fast), while supporting the Carabinieri of the Amalfi Company, directed by the captain Alessandro Bonsignorepresent in the field, the Salerno Provincial Command has allocated units from the territorial companies of Salerno, Lower Nocera (specifically from Pagani’s tenancy and give them Nocera Superiore and San Valentino Torio stations), as well as from San Severino Market Company. Also present were the men of the Local Police of Maiori.
Since the morning, four Carabinieri cars have blocked the only access route to the “San Martino” cape, in Ponteprimario, at the intersection between provincial road 2 and the access to the Demanio locality.
A filtering necessary to avoid access to the dead-end road to the Bisceglie ultras who were forbidden from traveling by the Police Headquarters for reasons of public order. A few minutes before the start of the match, around forty Bisceglie fans showed up and were denied access to the pitch. The speed van also arrived at the gate to reinforce the crossing.
In the away section there were around fifty Apulian supporters, mostly families, who followed the match calmly, also supported by the home fans who requested bottles of water for them. The carabinieri of the Carabinieri Operations Unit of the Amalfi Company filmed the presence in the stands (just under a thousand, with many children) for the entire duration of the match. Three carabinieri manned the border between the grandstand and the guest sector, nipping some skirmishes in the bud due to unfortunate jokes.
There were no moments of tension or disorder: the sporting event, which saw the victory of the hosts, took place regularly and safely despite the major logistical difficulties due to the location of the sports facility and its structural deficits . This will be Costa d’Amalfi’s last match at the “San Martino”, not eligible for the Serie D championship.
