The Pompeii takes the first leg of the play off final against Modica. The rossoblu conquered the Barone stadium by making a comeback against the tigrotti who had taken the lead with Azzara.
After just two minutes Modica tries to worry D’Agostino with Palmisano on the development of a corner kick. Tension soon rises on the pitch, but the match director manages to calm things down. In the ninth the Sicilians took the lead with Azzara, who found the winning shot to overcome D’Agostino. Scarlato’s men seem to feel the pinch and the reaction is slow in coming. On the half hour Malafronta has the equalizer, but Marino closes the shot well, but is offside. Subsequently Caso Naturale tries, but his left-handed shot is not precise. In the final, the Tigers came close to doubling their lead with Diop, while Malafronte called on Marino to make a great intervention on two occasions. He goes to rest with the Mariani under a net.
In the second half of the game we see Pompeii again. The rossoblu push into the opponent’s half of the pitch, raising their center of gravity, in an attempt to recover the disadvantage. Result still unchanged, when Guarracino comes on for Tarascio, with Scarlato launching the 4-2-4. The arrival of the Puteola striker is crucial, because it takes him four minutes to score the equalizer, which gives new life to the Pompeians. Ten minutes from the end Caso Naturale clocks in to overtake Pompeii. Guarracino’s third goal also arrives, but is disallowed due to a dubious offside. It ends like this in Modica, Pompei wins the first 90 minutes and in a week they repeat at the Bellucci stadium, promotion to Serie D at stake.
