POZZUOLI – Tragedy almost occurred yesterday in Pozzuoli where a road sign pole gave way hitting a 12 year old boy in the head who was walking with some peers. The episode occurred on the Sandro Pertini seafront, in via Napoli. Helped by some passers-by, he was then transferred by ambulance – in code yellow – to the emergency room of the “Santa Maria delle Grazie” where he underwent tests which revealed a head injury. Municipal police officers also arrived on site and carried out investigations to ascertain the causes that led to the detachment of the pole that hit the 12-year-old on the back of the head.

THE STORY«We are still in shock, doctors and nurses told us that my son was miraculous, all it took was another wrong spot on his head and he could have been left dead and today I was mourning him for what? Why don’t they spend the money on maintenance? – Raffaella Volpe, the mother of the 12 year old, told Cronaca Flegrea – We parents were nearby and when the call was called we immediately ran to the scene because at first the kids didn’t realize what my son had done to himself, then the hematoma broke out and blood started splashing everywhere. He is better now even though he is still all groggy and has a headache. Fortunately, the CT scan was negative, but they told us that if any symptoms should appear we must rush to the hospital immediately and even when he sleeps we must keep him under observation. I will report this to the competent bodies because whoever is responsible for something like this must pay.”
