Fiat Grande Panda, production starts in Serbia in July: “Great stimulus for the Serbian economy”

July 11th will be a very important date for Fiat. The internal brand of Stellantis, in fact, will officially present the new one Big Panda. Some preview images of the new Fiat creature have already been released and there is a lot of talk about this accessible model. On the other hand, it is also a name that easily relates to the history of Italian cars and that of generations and generations of motorists.

The new model has attracted a lot of attention and soon we will be able to know all the details, especially those regarding prices. The new Fiat Grande Panda will not be produced in Italy but in Stellantis plant in Serbia, the one that in the past produced the FIAT 500L. However, further information arrives from Serbia.

The Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, spoke about the investments in the new factory, also mentioning the activities that will start in the second half of July, primarily the production of the new Fiat model, in Kragujevac. “The model that will be produced in Kragujevac will be presented in Italy on July 11th. In the second half of July, together with representatives of Stellantis, I will inaugurate the production line in the central Serbian city,” said the Serbian President.

Vucic also underlined the importance of the production of the Big Panda for theSerbian economy. “This project will be a great stimulus for the development and progress not only of Kragujevac and the Sumadija region, but of the whole of Serbia. It will contribute significantly to GDP growth. We will produce an electric car, a key achievement for us,” Vucic added. Furthermore, the country is at a time when it is trying to push zero-emission mobility. Serbia, in fact, will offer incentives of 5,000 euros for the purchase of electric vehicles and will consider an increase for locally produced electric cars.

We know that the new Fiat Grande Panda will use the STLA Smart platform, the same as the new Citroën C3 and e-C3. Fiat has confirmed that the Grande Panda will be available in both hybrid and electric versions. Based on the French model, the hybrid version is expected to feature a mild hybrid system with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission integrating an electric motor. The total power will thus reach a total of 100 HP, the same system that will also be available on the Citroën C3.

There electric version of the Big Panda, similar to the e-C3, should have an 83 kW (113 hp) electric motor powered by an LFP battery with a capacity of 44 kWh. The range will be close to a figure of 300-320 km in total. Further details will only be revealed on July 11, the day of the official presentation of the model.
