Urgent works at Como San Giovanni station

This time the inconveniences for cross-border workers, commuters and travelers on regional and cross-border trains passing through the Como San Giovanni station are a little more understandable. The urgent works scheduled from tomorrow, 17 June, until Saturday 22 June, even if it is not specified in the press release from Trenord – the company that manages railway traffic in Lombardy and the five connecting lines of the Canton of Ticino – are due to extraordinary maintenance.

The inconveniences announced are in addition to those that are part of everyday life. Works which will inevitably limit the capacity of the Como San Giovanni station. We therefore learn that between 9 and 12 the service of the regional and cross-border lines that pass through the station will be rescheduled, i.e. the S11 Rho-Milan-Como-Chiasso, Re 80 Milan Centrale-Chiasso-Locarno, S10 Biasca- Bellinzona-Chiasso-Como San Giovanni, S40 Como-Mendrisio-Varese. Trenord’s communication specifies that the measures will vary over the six days of work and that alternative itineraries and the activation of replacement buses have been planned.

Therefore, on Monday and Tuesday, between 8.20 and 12.20, the trains of the S11 line will circulate between the Rho/Milano Porta Garibaldi and Carimate/Cucciago stations; Replacement buses will be activated on the Carimate-Chiasso and Cucciago-Como San Giovanni routes. The RE80 line runs between Chiasso and Seregno will travel along an alternative route; they will not make the Como San Giovanni and Como Camerlata stops. Travelers will be able to travel to and from Como San Giovanni using the trains on the S10 and S40 lines between Como San Giovanni and Chiasso.

From Chiasso to Como Camerlata only by bus

Travel to and from Como Camerlata will be permitted by replacement buses connecting with Chiasso. In short, pay attention to the acronyms of the four lines involved. However, to find out more you can consult the site trenord.it and the Trenord application, where details of the changes expected throughout the week are available.
