Tour de France, Florence anxiously awaits the start

Florence, 25 June 2024 – Florence is anxiously waiting, everything is ready now, all that remains is to welcome the cyclists competing for the Tour De France which will leave Italy for the first time. Indeed, from Florence, next Saturday. We see how traffic will change.

Thursday 27 the presentation of the teams is scheduled at Palazzo Vecchio, parking bans will be established from 8pm on the 26th to 6pm on the 27th June. Saturday 29 the Caravan will leave at 10am from the Cascine, followed at midday by the cyclists. They will reach the center passing through the Lungarni, under the Duomo and via Calzaiuoli, up to Piazza Signoria. The institutional start at Palazzo Vecchio. The whole thing should be finished within two hours. The devices will be in force from 8pm on Friday until 2pm on Saturday and will affect Piazzale delle Cascine, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Viale Fratelli Rosselli, Piazzale di Porta al Prato, Il Prato, Via Curtatone, Lungarno Vespucci, Piazza Goldoni, Via della Vigna Nuova , via degli Strozzi, via dei Vecchietti, piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore, via dei Cerretani, piazza di San Giovanni, piazza del Duomo, via dei Calzaiuoli, piazza della Signoria, via Vacchereccia, via Por Santa Maria, Ponte Vecchio, via dei Guicciardini , Piazza dei Pitti, Piazza San Felice, Via Romana, Piazza della Calza, Piazzale di Porta Romana, Viale Machiavelli, Piazzale Galileo, Viale Galileo, Piazzale Michelangelo, Viale Michelangelo, Via Marsuppini, Via Salutati, Piazza Gavinana, Viale Giannotti, Viale Europa , Piazza Nencini, Viale Europa, after which the itinerary leaves the municipal territory.

From 8 to 2pm on Saturday parking bans will be added in via Volteranna, Lungarno del Tempio, via del Bisarno, piazzale Galileo, piazza dell’Unità Italiana. An extraordinary car park will be established for sharing services (bicycles and scooters) in Piazza Duomo.

At 9am on Saturday (until 2pm) it will be the turn of transit bans on the route and on the roads relating to the itinerary. Numerous changes in direction and the establishment of one-way routes exiting the area affected by the passage of cyclists. All the details on the road system are already present on the Municipality’s website, complete with interactive maps for each day from 25 to 30 June. On the 27th and 29th there will be diversions of urban and extra-urban local public transport as well as limitations on tram transit on line 1 limited to the passage of caravans and cyclists.
