Coldiretti Varese annual meeting marked by positive results and a strong commitment for the future. The 2023 final budget, approved unanimously, highlights the solidity and competitiveness of the Varese agri-food sector, thanks to the commitment and work of agricultural entrepreneurs and the support of the organization: 2023 was also the year in which work has been completed on the new headquarters in via Monte Rosa 34, where the provincial federation moved in the first weeks of the current year and where the assembly took place last night.
Priorities and challenges for the future. President Pietro Luca Colombo and the director Rodolfo Mazzucotelli have reiterated the priorities of the agricultural world: in the foregroundwildlife emergency, with the announcement of the mobilization that next Tuesday will bring Lombard farmers – including the Varesotto – in front of the Pirellone. And so too defense of Made in Italywith the need to combat unfair practices and multinationals that exploit the Italian brand, protect the Mediterranean Diet and the biodiversity of the territories, also in the horticultural sector.
There was also talk of agricultural supply chainsin relation to which the need to support the corn and wheat supply chain and further enhance the other key sectors emerged, from animal husbandry with dairy, to fruit and vegetables, to floriculture.
About i climate changes the need to implement concrete policies to mitigate the effects of climate change and to guarantee food security was highlighted, while the protection of profitability of companies with the aim of guaranteeing adequate income to farmers.
Coldiretti Varese is ready for new mobilizations to defend Made in Italy and the work of agricultural entrepreneurs. Among the ongoing initiatives, the #nofakeinitaly signature collection: for the traceability of production and transparent labelling, in addition to the already mentioned mobilization against wild boars.
The assembly – during which representatives of the Lombardy Agricultural Consortium also spoke – concluded with the wishes of President Colombo, who highlighted how «Coldiretti Varese intends to look to the future with confidence and determination, ready alongside agricultural entrepreneurs to face challenges and seize new opportunities. The objective is to build an increasingly sustainable, competitive agriculture capable of enhancing the excellence of the pre-Alpine territory».
