In the Latina Mare area, with the bathing season now underway, the administration of mayor Matilde Celentano is significantly behind schedule. Not to mention the state of abandonment in which the Latina seafront finds itself, also deprived of essential services.
This is the summary of the attacks on the mayor coming from the municipal councilor of the 5 Star Movement of Latina Maria Grazia Ciolfi. But Forza Italia regional councilor Angelo Tripodi is of the same opinion, with friendly fire.
The list is long:
- tender documents for the rescue service published in mid-June,
- no trace of the announcement for the maintenance of walkways,
- The nourishment soft with the 200 thousand euros of regional funds will perhaps arrive in July,
- the project of coastal protection of 6 million stopped in the Region,
- Rio Martinostill covered up.
The accusation: Latina mare, never such a disservice
The group leader of the M5S in the City Council Maria Grazia Ciolfi explains:
«After a year of government this council has not managed to remove a grain of sand from the canal and we are still in the planning phase to understand how to do it, despite a professional assignment paid for by the citizens having been given for this purpose.
Added to all this degradation and poor cleaning. Such a disservice has never happened in the past » underlines the councilor, recalling that the previous administration in which she was delegated to the navy guaranteed a punctual rescue service and a biennial tender for the maintenance of all the gangways.
“We wonder if at least the budget change is ready to carry it out.”

There is not even a direct connection between the sea and the city
Councilor Ciolfi further states:
«What we see in Latina is the lack of commitment of the Brothers of Italy on an issue indicated as a priority in the electoral campaign.
Today we see a seafront abandoned to itself, lots of talk about urban planning, about the change of intended use, about the recovery of illegal settlements and transport when not even there is a direct line on via del Lido that connects the marina to the city.
Not to mention the unsafe and seized buildings along stretch A of the coast. How can we change pace with these assumptions?
The navy is a transversal matter, therefore the attack of the M5S is not on the individual department, but on an entire administration which after a year of being in council cannot even guarantee the ordinary.
Given the “non-results”, if not the council’s staff, it would be time to rethink the method and merit in acting.”
Tripodi (FI): Latina economy collapsing
The regional councilor of Forza Italia also speaks of “inaction” Angelo Tripodi which attacks heavily:
«I’m in Latina Delays are unacceptable on the start of the bathing season due to bureaucratic inefficiencies, shortage of human resources, overcrowding of competitions to manage, we are losing opportunities for economic development for the city, we need to plan with more determination to solve the problems.
The tender documents for the rescue service were published only two days ago, the same goes for the soft nourishment, we are in mid-June, not to mention the disaster in the canal port of Rio Martino, I remember that the silting does not allow the passage to the fishermen, the village’s economy is collapsing».
An earful to the mayor of Latina: fewer proclamations and more actions
In the statement released by Tripodi there is a strong criticism directed at the Latina administration:
«It is essential that effective budgeting and cost control strategies are adopted to ensure financial sustainability over time, it is important that the administration is careful not to lose important funding due to management errors.
I conclude with an invitation: It is crucial that the administration focuses less on proclamations and more on the implementation of concrete projects that can bring tangible benefits to the community.”
