Vittoria, FdI: “Via Cavour is in decay and more and more historical activities are closing the shutters”

“When a business closes it is always a great disappointment. When a historic business that has been present in Via Cavour for around forty years closes, a piece of the city’s history and identity is lost. The latest in chronological order is the Piazzese newsagent-bookshop which closed its doors forever and this must push this administration to a necessary reflection. Via Cavour is no longer attractive, businesses are closing, the deterioration is visibly increasing and traders are suffering this negative spiral”.

This was said by the councilors of the Fratelli d’Italia group Alfredo Vinciguerra, Monia Cannata, Pippo Scuderi and Valeria Zorzi (in the photo).

“In the three years of administration Aiello via Cavour has undergone constant decline. After the Covid years, many historic centers have revived: in Vittoria the opposite happened. Degradation, lack of controls, bivouacs, scooters constantly whizzing by, no initiative from the Municipality to animate our natural shopping centre, no events and zero interventions to improve the street furniture.”

Then the exponents of FdI continue: “In the municipal council we have been asking the administration for answers for months, also putting forward proposals such as the immediate strengthening of the Local Police (more officers equals more controls and therefore more security) and we have also proposed, on the model of Municipalities neighbors, the use of private security especially in the evening and night hours. Furthermore, we have urged the adoption of specific anti-bivouac ordinances and the use of Local Police units assisted by Civil Protection to carry out checks on the territory to protect decorum and the environment. How many businesses still need to close before this trend is reversed? We cannot helplessly witness the desertification of Via Cavour.”
