Trenitalia also explains in a note that those who intend to abandon the trip can request a refund up to the departure time of the booked train, for Intercity and Frecce trains; until midnight the day before the strike itself, for regional trains. «Alternatively», Trenitalia says, «they can reschedule the journey, under similar transport conditions, as soon as possible, depending on seat availability».
Furthermore, again from Trenitalia they recall that «union unrest can lead to changes to the service even before the start and after its conclusion. Travelers who intend to abandon the trip can request a refund starting from the declaration of strike: until the departure time of the booked train, for Intercity and Frecce trains; until midnight of the day before the strike itself, for regional trains. Alternatively they can reschedule the trip, under similar transport conditions, as soon as possible, subject to seat availability.
