Reggio, tomorrow at Palazzo Alvaro the meeting on Realism painting

Realism. Painting from life and from life: Corot, Coubert, Daumier, Miller” is the conclusion of cycle intended first for the Macchiaioli and now for Realism. The latter term indicates that artistic movement which, having established itself in France in the years immediately following the revolution of 1848, experienced its highest period in the years 1852/1870 (second empire). Realism did not limit itself to representing Nature in a plausible way, but the world in its social complexity guided by the desire to revitalize Art suffocated by Academicism.

The initiative, edited by AI Par. C. Nazionale, in partnership with the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, Anassilaos, Fidapa Morgana section of Reggio Calabria, Touring Club Italiano, will see the institutional greetings of the Councilor delegated to Culture of the Metropolitan City, Filippo Quartuccio, and interventions dthe Giuseppe Caridi, President of the Homeland History Deputation for Calabria, Domenico CappellanoConsul Club Territory of Reggio of the Italian Touring Club, Emira Dal Moro, President of Fidapa Morgana section of Reggio Calabria, Stefano Iorfida President of the Anassilaos Cultural Association.

Aided by video support, Dr. Salvatore Timpano, art expert and scholar, will report on the great interpreters of Realism: Courbet, Daumier, Corot, Millet. Realism created the technical-artistic and conceptual premises for the birth of impressionism and influenced the research of the Macchiaioli. The initiative, with free entry, will be held on on June 17th at 5.30 pm at the Gilda Trisolini Library in Palazzo Alvaro, Reggio Calabria.
