There was also a search in Foggia as part of Operation Tabù, conducted by the State Police in 18 Italian provinces, which allowed 26 people to be investigated and 9 arrested in flagrante delicto for possession and dissemination of child pornography material.
The investigations
The investigation started from the analysis of computer material seized during another operation by the Verona Postal Police, relating to the sexual exploitation of minors. In the developments, the Cyber Security Operations Center of the Catania Postal Police traced the various suspects and obtained from the Catania District Prosecutor’s Office the personal and IT search decrees against a person from Catania, 3 from Rome, 3 from Milan , 2 from Brescia, 2 from Bari, 2 from Turin, 2 from Genoa and one each from Ascoli Piceno, Avellino, Bergamo, Catanzaro, Cuneo, Imperia, Livorno, Prato, Ravenna and Varese and one from Foggia. Those arrested reside in the provinces of Catania, Rome, Milan, Florence, Bergamo, Ravenna, Varese and Imperia.
The Foggia case
No elements were found against the suspect from Foggia that could trigger criminal charges. The investigations were coordinated by the National Center for combating online child pornography (Cncpo) of the Postal Police service. The investigations started from a complex computer analysis activity on some electronic devices seized from a suspect arrested months ago for the Verona operation.
Inside a messaging platform, specialists had found closed groups dedicated to the exchange of gruesome images and videos, with abuse even of very young children. Among the archived files, the digital version of the book “Guida del pedophile” was also found.
The police identified the individuals active in the groups and requested searches, which were then carried out in collaboration with the territorial operational centers for cyber security of the postal police. Thus, agents discovered thousands of images and videos of minors, even very young ones, victims of sexual abuse, and seized the electronic devices on which they were stored.
Excellent names
Also caught in the “meshes” of the investigation was 25-year-old Andrea Piscina, who hosts a radio program on Rtl 102.5, arrested on Friday, by order of the investigating judge of Milan, for production of child pornography and sexual violence. Over a thousand images and chats of child pornography content were found on his devices. The young speaker would have had relationships, also through video calls, with children between 9 and 14 years old, lured on the web and pretending to be a little girl called Alessia. The well-known national radio station has decided “to suspend Piscina from all activities as a precaution.
