Florence, 16 June 2024 – This time, perhaps, we are really there. The first weekend of summer, with sun and temperatures well above 25 degrees, is already attracting thousands of Tuscans to the coastal towns. Today, Sunday 16 June, from Versilia to Maremma the usual crowds on the beaches and the rush for deckchairs and umbrellas are expected.
Operators’ forecasts, afterwards a difficult month of May from a meteorological point of view, they invite optimism. “Based on the bookings we are recording, we expect to be sold out on our coasts” says Antonio Capacchione, just reconfirmed president of the Italian Seaside Union, member of Fipe Confcommercio. “Liguria and Tuscany are among the most popular destinations,” he confirms.

“After all, after a long winter and a lost May – says Capacchione – there is a great desire for the sea. The weather forecast is good, therefore all the conditions are there for a start of the bathing season which, in fact, coincides with the 2024 tourist season. In this regard, I want to remind you that 60% of tourist demand (both Italian and foreign) is at the seaside”.
Today’s forecast in Tuscany, May 16, is encouraging to go to the seaside. According to the opinion of the Lamma Consortium, the sky should be clear or slightly cloudy except for temporary thickening of low clouds, in the morning over the westernmost areas moving to the eastern ones in the early afternoon. Nothing, however, that can make you stop spending a day on the beach.
The forecast in Tuscany for the next few days
If we look at Tuscany in particular, however, there is a day to mark on the calendar, the one where the real heat will arrive: it’s June 18th, when the mercury column will rise to crystallize the hottest days on June 19th and 20th.
The sky will be clear or slightly cloudy, with light winds and temperatures that should rise above 30 degrees. In short, it will be the first real heat wave of the year, due to the entry into our country of the African anticyclone.
