FASANO – The journey during which we wanted to talk about the G7 in Savelletri in recent days is coming to an end.
Today (yesterday for those reading this) the end was written for an international event that can be defined as extraordinary without a shadow of contradiction. Everything worked perfectly and the powerful people of the world, as well as the prime ministers with their Sherpas and the delegations of their respective host countries, returned with the certainty – as was also reiterated several times by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni – that he will return for their holidays.
Savelletri, or better yet Fasano, was the center of attention around the world for days on end. Friday, after a series of meetings and hours and hours of work, starting with the one with Pope Francis, ended with an evening with the participation of Andrea Bocelli, who sang some of his songs. A real popular festival during which there was an air of satisfaction and joy. Everything revolved around Puglia and its “brand”. A joy demonstrating how the various phases of the three-day international summit had gone.
It is no coincidence, in fact, that in addition to Apulian gastronomy, a folklore group presented popular dances which in the end involved everyone, starting with the President of the Region Michele Emiliano who expressed, during the evening, in dialogue with many foreign guests, his great satisfaction from the entire Region. With him there were also representatives of the regional council.
And a thought could not be missing from Sergio Melpignano, creator and creator of Borgo Egnazia who passed away a few years ago: «Sergio was an extraordinary visionary – recalls Massimo Ferrarese, President of the Province, when Borgo Egnazia was born – and already at the time he told me that here People will come to Savelletri from all over the world attracted by the magic and one day the village with Savelletri will be written in the history books.”
And so it was. «I am proud of the opportunity that was provided to us by choosing Fasano for such an important event – reiterated Mayor Zaccaria – I am happy for how the city responded with great discipline and respect for the rules established for the success of the event, I am thrilled that from this event everyone, I mean everyone, was able to present the real Puglia and its hospitality and even happier because the city, which I represent, was up to the task.”
A page of history has been written. Everyone agrees on this. The trip ends with the certainty that everyone will carry this wonderful occasion in their memories, to the authorities and to the entire city.
