From Palazzo degli Elefanti to Palazzo d’Orleans. With the election of Marco Falcone to the European Parliament and the consequent scrolling of the Forza Italia list, the current councilor of the municipality of Catania with responsibilities for the Environment, Ecology, Parks and Public Green of the municipality of Catania, Salvo Tomarchio, will be able to do entry to the Sicilian Regional Assembly. The step, two years after the vote on the island, occurs automatically as Tomarchio was the first of the non-elected and now “redeems” the preferences (7,043) collected in 2022.
A leap from councilor to honorable member which is the direct result that Forza Italia obtained in the last electoral round and which saw the blue party leading the island, with over 100 thousand votes, and in the province of Catania: “A great success of a party made up of ideas and projects”, declares Tomarchio to Cataniatoday.
The official handover will take place within about twenty days, as confirmed by Tomarchio himself: “They have been hectic days and I haven’t achieved anything yet. It wasn’t expected but now this opportunity has arisen which I hope to honor in the best possible way. I will continue to work for Catania, only the place from which I will do it will change.” A relay that will materialize without rushing the times: “So we agreed with Falcone. In Catania there is a need for administrative and political continuity and even Falcone, before flying to Brussels, has to complete the budget for the Region. Only then will we organize the relay”, adds the new member.
Last Tuesday in the city council the institution of the role of environmental inspector and supervisory service was approved, welcomed by the Mpa group leader, Orazio Grasso with some doubts and protagonist of an exchange involving press notes with Ecocar: “How we said in the chamber, the waste problem in Catania is so big that we know that it cannot be solved with a single action, but only with the set of works that we are carrying out with many respectable people of Catania”.
City council approves regulations on sanctioning procedures and environmental inspector
The environmental inspector may have been Tomarchio’s last action as alderman. He assures us no, in fact he reiterates: “We have a series of ongoing projects to complete before I settle in Palermo. You will see some beautiful ones, and if we don’t get there, my successor will follow the path we have traced.” The nomination of Tomarchio’s successor has animated the discussions in the corridors of the Municipality in recent days. The well-informed assure, playing with an idiom, that it will be “either fowl or fowl”, with a clear reference to the citizen coordinator of Forza Italia, Massimo Pesce. A name that the now former councilor neither confirms nor denies: “The party will indicate a very high profile who will continue the work started.”
In short, tight mouths. And if it is not yet time to talk about a successor, neither is it time to take stock of his mandate, albeit a short one: “It is still early – Tomarchio comments – We will hold a dedicated conference by the end of the month”.
