In Borgo the party doesn’t want to end. After the victory of the Bigorda, Porta delle Chiavi takes up two categories of flags: the Big and Small team. The success in the Singles goes to Red with the return to victory of Raffaele Rampino jr. Black redeems himself with the clear victory of the Musicians. The Borgo will participate in the Italian flag championships with a great team and musicians.
On Saturday 15 June the magic of flags returned to Faenza. The success of Borgo alla has been archived Bigorda, now it’s the flags’ turn to be the protagonists. The five districts of the city competed in the Single, Large Team and Small Team competitions. Perhaps due to the debut match of the Italian national team at the European Championships, there is no crowd in Piazza del Popolo for special occasions, but the local fans near the barriers are always warm in supporting their flag-bearers. The judges also return to the streets Fisb (Italian Federation of flag-wavers) after the long dispute with the Palio del Niballo: they are the ones who give the score to each performance. The winners will return to compete at the national Fisb competitions starting however from Bronze Battle (A3). To decree the representative district in the category Great team and musicians, which are awarded separately in Faenza, the scores of the respective categories will be added. In this case, the Borgo wins.
Singles competitions
The Singles competitions open the dancing in the square. The ice-breaker is the Borgo’s flag-waver Marco Tarroni, with a decent performance even if tainted by the fall of a flag. The second performance sees one of the favorites to win enter the field: the 2018 and 2022 Italian champion Raffaele Rampino jr from Rione Rosso, who came second last year. The third to perform is Luca Giuseppe Corvino of the Rione Giallo who tries to continue the great recent tradition of the singles players from the Porta Ponte district, lastly the outgoing champion Luca Ghinassi who succeeded him this year. The performance was excellent Francesco Santandrea from Rione Nero, another favorite for the final victory and already winner in the Pairs in the past, who offers a beautiful, flawless performance. The Single category ends with Philip Rossi, which demonstrates some uncertainty about the end of the test.
The final ranking sees Raffaele Rampino jr del Rosso in first place with 26.22 points, followed by Francesco Santandrea with 25.45, then Filippo Rossi 23.27 Marco Tarroni 20.91 and Luca Corvino 19.12
Small team, the Borgo puts an end to the dominance of the Yellow
It is then the turn of the six standard bearers to enter the square and perform with the Little Team, perhaps the most technical and difficult competition of the three. The final ranking sees Borgo Durbecco triumph with 25.66 points, which overthrows the long-time triumphant Rione Giallo. Second place goes to Yellow with 24.51 points, followed by Rione Verde (24.18), Black (24.10) and finally Red (20.48).

Great team, very close match but Borgo still prevails
The last standard bearers to perform in the square, accompanied by musicians, are those of the Big Team, the most spectacular race. Up to 16 flag-wavers are involved at the same time in the exhibition which sees large flag throws and spectacular choreographies accompanied by the sound of clarions and drums.
The final ranking is very tight and here too he has the upper hand Borgo Durbecco with 28.53 points, slightly ahead of the Black district which stops at 27.89 points, then the Green (27.27), Yellow (26.33) and Red (20.18).

Rione Nero redeems itself in the Musicians ranking. Via Della Croce confirms its lead with a large score: 25.79 points. Second place for Borgo who failed to score a hat-trick (21.42); third is Green with 20.81 points, then Yellow 16.23 and finally Red 10.55.
