Greek’s tower. The Rotary clubs of district 2101 donate two thousand trees to reforest Vesuvius. Ugo Oliviero, governor of the District, kicked off the meeting organized at Villa delle Ginestre: «With “Rygeneriamo il Vesuvio” we involved many clubs, which is no small feat. It is a project that will last thousands of years.” The initiative – organized by the Rotary Clubs of Torre del Greco Comuni Vesuviani – involved around 15 Rotary and Rotaract clubs.

The collaboration, then, with PrimaAurora will make it possible to reforest the areas of the Vesuvius National Park devastated by the 2017 fires: «It is an important partnership. It seems like an easy thing, but it isn’t: a series of authorizations are required since we are in a protected area. We want to bring people closer to nature” explains Silvano Somma, president of the association.

Also present were the local institutions of the city of Torre del Greco, in the person of Laura Vitiello – councilor for ecological transition – and the deputy mayor Michele Polese.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the precious intervention of Gianmaria Sannino, climatologist and head of the Enea climate modeling laboratory: «There is an acceleration in temperature, especially in 2023. We are worried because as it increases it generates energy that the atmosphere uses to modify climatic phenomena. One consequence is, for example, the fact that in Italy after great heat waves, devastating torrential rains arrive even in the height of summer. We are experiencing the highest temperatures ever recorded” explains the expert.
